Reimagining Big Basin
In 2020, the CZU Lightning Complex Fire devastated Big Basin’s resources and infrastructure, creating a “re-set” for the park’s ecosystem.The State Parks team needed an effective tool for communicating with the public about developments regarding Big Basin Redwoods.
We worked together with Miller Maxfield, a local PR agency, to devise a package of media that engages both the public and stakeholders involved in reimagining this historic park. In addition to producing an award-winning documentary style video about the developments at Big Basin, we produced large-scale 3D models of the various sites at Big Basin for visitors to tour online.
While Matterport is traditionally used for scanning indoor spaces, we were able to create these large-scale models outdoor spaces utilizing an advanced lidar-scanning camera.
